RESERVE SERIES FULL LEAF GREEN TEA

1 review

Harvested from seed propagated heirloom tea plants on Xishan Island, this pre-Qingming tea captures the essence of spring.

Lovingly handcrafted by third generation tea farmer Mr. Lu, this tea has notes of caramel corn, bamboo shoot and plumeria and is a nod to the hundreds of years of tea making tradition.

Unlike most tea farms, Mr. Lu interperses fruit plants in his tea garden. That biodiversity nurtures an incredibly healthy ecosystem around his tea trees. He doesn’t use pesticides, and he weeds his gardens by hand. This tea is made from the first harvest from the tea tree, picked just before spring when nutrients are especially concentrated in the tree’s buds.

As you savor the intricate aromas and flavors of this petite, delicate tea leaf, you’ll be transported to the verdant rolling hills of Xishan Island during a gentle rainshower.

Ingredients

Full leaf green tea from Jiangsu Province

Blend Numerology

Reserve No. 201: The first tea in our 2nd Reserve Series.

Preparation

Place 7 grams of tea leaves into 175 ml (6 ounce) gaiwan. Bring spring or freshly drawn filtered water to 185 degrees. Fill your gaiwan to the top and let the leaves steep for 10-20 seconds. Set the strainer on top of the decanter and pour the tea out of the gaiwan with the lid slightly askew, without allowing the tea leaves to escape. Serve into small cups and repeat this process at least 4-5 times and notice how the tea leaves change in flavor over each infusion.

Alternatively, this tea can be brewed for single infusions using 3 grams of tea per 8 ounces of water and steeped for three minutes.
